SUMMIT - Safety for Users on the mountain area by Management of risks and innovative technologies Leisure trends and the increasing importance of nature, sport and recreation in alpine areas lead more people into the mountains. At the same time a decrease in respect for the forces of nature or a limited risk perception of tourists, but also the local "mountain outdoor community" can be observed. Alpine infrastructure operators are faced with increasingly isolated normative claims. This may affect the safety and leads to an uncritical assessment of alpine dangers and a confusing presentation and disclosure of risk information. Through active participation of project partners in cooperation with researchers, industry and users, we are striving to increase safety and empowerment of people in the Alpine area for outdoor activities through technological innovation, better risk assessment and communication.
