ClusteriX 2.0 – New Models of Innovation for Strategic Cluster Partnership Globalisation and digitalisation cause rapidly changing value chains and business models. This has increased the need for new innovation models. Policy makers need to learn about these new models in order to keep pace and to be able to provide fast and flexible support for emerging industries to keep a region competitive at global scale. ClusteriX 2.0 aims at improving policy instruments related to the actual delivery of innovation making better use of clusters to facilitate such processes by focusing on complementary competences, by introducing new models of innovation for the development and operational implementation of strategic cluster partnerships. Our goal is to increase the number of collaborations between enterprises and knowledge institutions (by 5 % on average by 2020) leading to new value chains through cross-cluster collaboration and eventually to new products and solutions. This will be done by improving policy instruments related to networking, clusters and open innovation through smart specialisation.
